The Bio;
''Born and raised in Berlin, designer Jolka Wiens decided to leave her beloved hometown to study at the Gerrit-Rietveld-Academie in Amsterdam, where she graduated in July 2012. Jolka’s collections derive inspiration from the psychological and social aspects of design, the way in which people communicate. For her graduate collection, Jolka studied the psychology of facial expressions and translated it into a modern, laser cut collection that plays with subtle changes within the same basic shape. Jolka loves new challenges within material treatment and taking a sculptural approach to clothing.''

The Final Collection; Misunderstood Youth

The final collection for my art foundation diploma (where I can proudly say I achieved a distinction) based around futuristic teen fashion, architectural forms, and unusual materials.

For the black dress, I used VHS tape (straight from an old thunderbirds video) and black chiffon, the goggles were then made from the video tape shell.
With the blue cape I used a clear PVC fabric, with a turquoise chiffon layer underneath.
The pyramid outfit was made from thick PVC with a silver card structure.

Special thanks to Tess Charnley for being a superb model.
